These easy to make fruit kabobs feature fresh fruit layered on wooden skewers with marshmallows. This quick and easy recipe will be a favorite with kids and adults alike.
Patriotic fruit kabobs are made with strawberries, blueberries, and miniature marshmallow. My daughter Cecelia chopped fresh strawberries then layered the ingredients on bamboo skewers.

This is a really simple, festive side that can be made in less than 20 minutes!
All of the kids gobbled them up and thought they were a fun way to celebrate the season!

Ingredients
You need just three simple ingredients:
- 2 pints blueberries (look for plump, large berries)
- 1 pound strawberries
- 10 oz mini marshmallows
You will also need skewers for this recipe. We used 12 inch wooden skewers. You can use shorter skewers if you like, you will end up with even more fruit kabobs!

How To Make July Fruit Kabobs
Step 1: Chop the strawberries so they are slightly larger than the marhsmallows. No need to get technical, just eye ball the size!
Step 2: Add one strawberry to the skewer, then add two marshmallows, then two blueberries.
Step 3: Enjoy!
Storage
These red, white and blue fruit kabobs are best fresh, but you can refrigerate them in an airtight container for a few hours prior to serving.

Variations
- If you don’t have marshmallows, substitute angel food cake cut into small pieces. Peeled apples soaked vinegar could also be used for the white color.
- In lieu of blueberries, substitute blackberries or grapes for the blue fruits.
- Layer the fruit into the shape of an American flag for a fun display
- Set the fruit kabobs in a vase to mimic fireworks for an Independence Day party!
Tips
- The tips of skewers can be sharp, so I encourage the kids to slide the fruit off of the fruit skewers before eating. And, no running around with them!
- Different types of fruit can be substituted for the strawberries: red fruits like cherries, raspberries, or seedless watermelon.
- If you use chopped apples, soak them in lemon juice or salt to keep the white bright.
I hope these patriotic kabobs will bring some color and joy to your summer months. Keep an eye out for even more 4th of July treats coming up on the blog!
