  • This rainbow fruit salad is chock full of a variety of yummy fruits and lime zest

Ingredients

ingredients for honey lime fruit salad: honey, lime juice, blueberries, grapes, lime zest and strawberries
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced:  Strawberries give this easy fruit salad that sweet summer berry flavor we all know and love.
  • 2 cups blueberries: Blueberries add bold color and bold flavor.  Blueberries are one of our favorite summer berries to pick!
  • 2 cups grapes, whole or sliced:  Use purple or green grapes for this easy salad.
  • 2 tablespoons honey: add natural sweetness to this easy salad
  • Juice of 1-2 limes:  Use at least 2 tablespoons of lime juice.  Add more if you like!
  • Zest of one lime: This is about 2 teaspoons of zest. You can add more zest if you’d like.  My kids love to help zest limes so we end up with more than the recipe calls for.

Optional: Peel and add 4-5 orange cuties to give this healthy dessert a citrus twist.

Tip: Buy a zester to help make the fruit salad dressing.

Variations

  • If you don’t have limes you can sub lemon juice.
  • Add in poppy seeds or sliced almonds for some texture and crunch
  • Don’t be afraid to try different fruit combinations if you like!  Kiwi and mango are some of our favorites.
  • Fresh mint will add to the zest and make this colorful fruit salad even livelier!

Feel free to add different fruits to this recipe to change it up, especially if you make a lot of fruit salads!

How To Make Easy Fruit Salad

Chop fruit:  First, slice the strawberries and grapes as applicable and grate lime zest.

Combine: Dump all of the fruit into a large bowl.

Add Dressing:  Add the honey, lime juice, and zest to the top of the salad.

Stir:  Gently stir the fruit together with a spatula.  Be careful not to bruise the fruit!

Recipe Tips

  • Stir the salad very gently to avoid crushing the berries.
  • For best results, consume this salad within one hour of making.  As the honey and lime sit, the fruit macerates- breaks down.
  • Choose firm fruit- it will hold up better than soft or bruised fruit.
  • Chop up the larger pieces of fruit into bite-sized pieces for little kids.
  • Make a seasonal fruit salad by adding any fresh fruits that are growing in your area.
  • For the best flavor, choose ripe fruit but not rotten: it should still be a little firm but not soft, with no spots.
  • For a vegan version, swap out the honey with agave.
