The best part? You only need three ingredients: caramels, sweetened condensed milk, and butter.

You need just a few ingredients for this recipe:

  • 11 ounces caramel candies (1 pack) 
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • sea salt *optional, for sprinkling on top 

You will also need fresh apple slices.  We like using tart apples like Granny Smith, but you can use any kind of apples like Honeycrisp or Gala.

You do not need a candy thermometer for this recipe, just a medium sauce pan and a wooden spoon or spatula.

How To Make Caramel Apple Dip For Apples

This homemade dip will make your guests happy and is SO simple:

  • First unwrap all of the caramels and place in a medium saucepan.  Add the butter and can of sweetened condensed milk. 
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until all ingredients melt together. 
  • Sprinkle with chunky sea salt if desired. 
  • Transfer to a serving tray, cut apples into slices, and enjoy!

Variations

  • Sprinkle chocolate chips or crunchy toffee bits to make this dip a little fancy!
  • Crush up graham crackers and sprinkle over the caramel dip
  • Dip fresh fruit of all kinds in the caramel 
  • Sprinkle pumpkin spice over the top of the creamy dip for extra fall flavor!

Doubling The Recipe

This recipe makes 18 servings and is a huge hit for parties, and you can easily double or triple this recipe if needed for a large gathering.  

I recommend making the dip in small batches as the caramels will melt down more quickly.  Make sure to increase the amount of sliced apples as well!

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Alternatively, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and store in the fridge.
