The Best Cloth For Cleaning Windows Naturally Without Vinegar

I have to confess that I absolutely love cleaning. (Decluttering is a different story!). There is nothing more invigorating to a stay at home mom than a freshly washed window.

Like most people, I want things to smell good AND look good. So often after cleaning windows with vinegar, water and paper towels, I would see still see aggravating streaks. And, I did not enjoy the vinegar smell.

I also tossed out chemical options years ago. The toxicity of windex can leave the user with a migraine, and can be a household hazard. It is so important to only keep safe cleaning products around toddlers, so window cleaning chemicals have to go! (This article explains the hazards of windex!).

I have been on the hunt for the best way to naturally clean my windows without vinegar, and the Norwex window cleaning cloth IS the answer!

How To Use A Norwex Window Cloth:

There are two methods you can use with the Norwex window cleaning cloth. I have used both, but prefer to keep my windows cleaned regularly, which allows me to quickly use just the window cloth.

  • Method One: For heavily soiled windows, first use a damp Enviro Cloth. (The Enviro Cloth is gray.) Clean dirt and grime off of the window with this cloth. Then finish by spritzing with water and cleaning with the Norwex window cloth for the sparkle and shine of a clean window.
  • Method Two: Spritz water all over your window. Then, wipe clean from left to right with the Norwex window cleaning cloth.

(For outside windows that haven’t been washed in a while, I will use the Enviro Cloth first).

Step By Step Instructions For Cleaning With Your Glass Cloth:

1. Fill up a spray bottle with water

2. Spritz your window from top to bottom with water

Using a spray bottle, you first spritz the window before wiping with the Norwex window cloth.

3. Applying moderate pressure, work your way from left to right and top to bottom to wipe your window clean. There is no wrong way to do this, but I prefer to clean in a specific direction to make sure I hit every spot.

To keep your cloth clean, you can fold it in fourths, and rotate each side you use.

I haven’t needed to wash my window cloth frequently. However, the few times I have I have washed it, I’ved used hot water to soak the cloth and then hung it up to air dry. Do not use bleach, or use fabric softener or dryer cloths. Hang to dry after washing.

You can also wash it in the washing machine using warm water. Then, air dry.

Do You Wet Need to Wet This Cloth Before Using?

No, you do not need to wet the Norwex Cleaning Cloth. Instead, spray water directly onto your window surface, then wipe clean.

I purchased my Norwex window cleaning cloth in a set off of Amazon for $43. It came in a package with the Enviro Cloth, which can also be used to clean countertops and other soiled surfaces.

I am always hesitant to spend this kind of cash on such a small, simple product. But because you are only purchasing the cloth once, you are saving money.
