How to Clean Your Bathroom in 5 Minutes a Day

Have you ever wished you could just twinkle your nose a few times and zap your house clean in the style of Samantha from the 1960s show Bewitched? I sure have. As our family has grown to a household of six, it seems the messes only accumulate faster as my time to clean diminishes. That’s why I wanted to share this tutorial on how to clean your bathroom in just 5 minutes a day.

I used to be a slob!

In my twenties, I lived alone in an adorable vintage apartment in the heart of a popular city. Although my space was only 400 square feet, it seemed impossible to clean. I can remember spending a lot of time thinking about cleaning and not doing much of it (and often just hiding my messes and ignoring them).

The bathroom was no exception. Collections of hair potions littered the counters, I rarely cleaned the sink and left the floors to the dust bunnies. While I have fond memories of my tiny apartment from a bygone era, I couldn’t have imagined being able to keep my bathroom clean in 5 minutes a day, or do any regular cleaning, for that matter!

I had to Learn How to Clean

When I become a wife and mother, I knew something had to change. For the first few years, I spent an enormous amount of time working up the energy to clean, then I would spend a huge chunk of time doing the cleaning. Efficiency had not yet entered my realm of thinking!

Learn to Clean Your Bathroom Efficiently

I finally realized that more could be done in less time if it was done on a routine and with the same tried and true methods. Now that I have four children, working efficiently is crucial, especially when it comes to bathrooms, which get used and abused on the daily.

Let me get to the nitty gritty of how I keep my bathroom clean in 5 minutes a day. And if you scroll to the bottom of this post you will find tips to prepare your bathroom and a few ideas for natural cleaners as well.

1. Clear Clutter Off Countertops

It helps immensely if you keep your countertop clutter to a minimum to start with! Give your toothbrushes, blow dryer, cosmetics and other essentials a home of their own. When everything has a home it should only take a few seconds to clear your countertop. Consider taking a minimalist approach to your bathroom supplies for faster clean up.

2. Spray Countertops and Add Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Find a great natural bathroom spray and quickly spray down your countertops and top of toilet. Next, add your toilet bowl cleaner to the bowl. Let both soak in while you move to the next step. See below for all natural cleaning products and ideas.

3. Spot Clean Floors

Keep a small broom nearby to quickly sweep floors. If you do this daily, you will find that very little debris accumulates. You can then spot clean your floors with your spray and paper towels. While you are doing so, wipe down the base of the toilet.

4. Wipe Countertops and Clean Toilet

Go back to where you sprayed down your countertops, sink and toilet and clean and dry them. Next, swish your toilet clean. You are almost done!

5. Clean Mirror

Using an all natural glass cleaner, spray and wipe down your mirror. Smile. You are done!

Showers and Bathtubs

I rotate the chore of deep cleaning my showers and tubs, adding it to my overall cleaning schedule. Everyone has their own take on how often to clean the shower, I do it bi weekly.
