Bible Verses About Faith and Hope
In today’s turbulent times, it can be hard to be filled with faith and hope. We must turn to the Bible to find trusted wisdom to strengthen our faith! I hope these Bible Verses about faith and hope will fill you with encouragement.
The Overwhelming Cares of This World
We drove through the dark winter night, silent save the loud swooshing of puddles. Rain splattered the window, blurring my view. The winter world was soggy and filled with mud, and my spirit likewise felt damp.
A worldwide pandemic, concerns for my children, and an overwhelming to do list had clouded my vision. My thoughts were spinning worries, soon to become an overwhelming web.
I knew I needed to refresh my spirit, and soon.

I needed to turn to the only place where true hope is found, and strengthen my faith! That place is in the timeworn pages of the Bible.
As mothers, we have the opportunity to point our children toward hope. Of course, we can only do that if we ourselves are filled with hope and faith!
Today I want to share with you these encouraging Bible verses about faith and hope.
As moms, it can be so hard to find time to seek the Lord alone. Today, I opened my Bible to the Psalms and plopped it on the countertop. I was determined for the Truth of God to be my guide, instead of my changing moods, the chaos of the day or my toddler’s temper tantrums!

Bible Verses On Growing Your Faith
Here are encouraging verses for when your faith feels weak. Meditating and praying over the Truth can lift our spirits immensely. Memorizing Scripture is powerful, and can work to help us in our weakest moments.
Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”
In order to bolster our faith, we must hear the word of Christ! We need to saturate our hearts and minds with the word of truth. Practically speaking, we can do this by making time every day to both read and listen to the word of God.
Sometimes as busy moms, that that may mean spending extra time reading the Word out loud as our kiddos play at our feet. I may not have the luxury right now to sit at a coffee shop and pour over the word of God alone, but I can still seek God in the small moments.
There are many amazing ways to hear the word of truth today. From podcasts like this one to listening to the Bible read out loud, we have many options to fill our spirits and minds with truth.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
To have faith in someone, we have to trust them. It is natural to try to put our trust in our own abilities or on our spouse. But ultimately all humans fail, and our paths become murky. It is only in God that understanding and direction can come.
2 Corinthians 5:7 “We live by faith, not by sight.”
How reassuring is this verse! We can cast aside our expectations for finding hope in this world outside of Christ. This means we must pray for eyes to see the spiritual, not the temporary!
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” Luke 17:5
It should reassure us that even the apostles, in the presence of Jesus, asked for more faith. I guess we should as well! I’m excited to start praying this verse daily over myself and my family.
When our spirits are clouded, we can ask God to increase our faith and remove any obstacles that stand in the way of believing in His truth.
Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Busyness is an idol today. And when we are not physically busy, our minds are distracted by devices. I love to have a productive day, but oh so often I neglect reading truth and time with my Savior!
I have seen how not taking time to be still in God’s word can lead to doubt. Faith takes knowing God and spending time with him by being still!
Stillness is an art that can draw us closer to our Creator, our families, and our true purposes in life.
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13
Wow, even as I read this verse, I am encouraged! Stand firm in the faith, be strong and courageous. I once heard Sally Clarkson mention that as a young mom she determined in her heart that she would have faith. She would stand firm, and not doubt.
I want that determination myself!
This would be an excellent verse to memorize with your kids.
Bible Verses To Give You Hope
What does hope mean? According to the dictionary, hope is “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.” So that begs the question, what do we desire to happen? What is our feeling of expectation?
I know that when I get caught up in desiring things of this world, my soul always feels empty. That is because our souls are meant to be filled with the things of eternity…. With the redemptive love of God!
The following verses are here to give you hope. Whether you are in hard times or happy, our hope should remain in eternity!
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12
Hope and joy go together…. when we fix our eyes and hope in Jesus, we will be more joyful. Nothing in this temporary world can give us true joy!
“The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.” Psalm 147:11
God’s love is unfailing, and we can put our hope in him!
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD.” Jeremiah 17:7
“The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord quiets our hearts with his love, he saves us, and rejoices over us! He is also with us, in our midst! Isn’t this a beautiful verse? We just need to spend time with Him, drawn near to him, and feel and welcome his love.
I love having a morning routine with my kids where we start the day reading a Bible story and the Psalms.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more. There will be no mourning, crying, or pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” — Revelation 21:4
Life is full of hardship, pain, confusion and struggle. This has been even more apparent since the pandemic began. All of our lives have been affected in some way. But some day God will take away death and pain, and our hope should rest in this hope!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13
I will leave you with Romans 15:13, and pray that God will fill you with joy and peace that overflows into hope. A home fragrant with hope and faith is a beautiful gift that will fill the souls of our children for their entire lives!
