Homemade Chocolate Covered Strawberries With Chocolate Chips
These easy homemade chocolate covered strawberries are made with just melted chocolate chips! Use gourmet chocolate to create your own homemade chocolate covered strawberries- perfect for Valentine's Day!

- 2 lbs fresh strawberries washed and well dried
- 12 oz semi sweet chocolate chips (2 cups) Use high quality like Ghirardelli
Make sure the strawberries are completely dry before starting the recipe- chocolate will not stick to wet berries!
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside 1 TBSP of chocolate chips to be used to temper the chocolate.
Melt the chocolate in a double broiler or in the microwave, stirring at 30 second intervals. See blogpost for details on creating your own double broiler.
Remove the chocolate chips from the heat and add in the remaining 1 TBSP chocolate chips, stirring well.
Dip the dried strawberries, one at a time, into the chocolate. Twist the strawberry so it is covered in chocolate, up to the top of the fruit. Let the excess chocolate drip off into the bowl.
Set each strawberry on the parchment lined baking sheet to dry. You may place the whole tray into the fridge for a faster dry time.
These strawberries are best enjoy fresh, but you may keep them in a cool, dry place- or in the fridge, for up to 24 hours.
- The chocolate will not stick to wet strawberries. Make sure the strawberries are completely dry before dipping in the melted chocolate!
- If your strawberries are very large, you may need more chocolate chips - keep an extra bag on hand!
- If the chocolate hardens while dipping, simply warm it back up, stirring continuously.
- Choose firm and ripe strawberries without bruises.
- Temper the chocolate so that it doesn't end up with streaks by adding in 1 TBSP of chocolate into the melted chocolate at the end, and stirring in.
