Easy Sourdough French Toast

- 6 slices sourdough sandwich bread
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk *sub almond milk for dairy free
- 1 tsp cinnamon or more, to taste
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg optional
- butter or oil for coating pan
Whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla, and cinnamon. Make sure that all ingredients are well incorporated.
Preheat a cast iron or non stick pan over medium heat, and add butter to the pan to prevent the French toast from sticking.
Dip one side of the bread into the egg milk mixture, then flip it over and coat the other side.
When hot, place the French toast into the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the egg is cooked and the toast is golden brown. Flip, and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until done.
Serve when hot and top with maple syrup and butter!
- Make sure the pan is nice and hot before cooking the French toast.
- You can sub almond milk in place of whole milk if need be.
- Add in nutmeg for a warm fall flavor.
- Adjust the vanilla flavor to taste-my husband likes to add a full tablespoon!
